This Week at EPL – November 12-17

In the 1920’s, a prominent Auburn family known as the Sheffers were killed under mysterious circumstances. While there has been much speculation, the case has never been definitively solved. We invite you to bring your investigative skills on Saturday, November 17, from 1-2 p.m. at the Willennar Genealogy Center. Sift through the clues and evidence to determine who committed these crimes and why.

Main Library Restoration Update

Weekly Happenings

  • Eckhart Public Library will be closed on Monday, November 12, in observance of Veterans Day. Our staff wishes to thank all those who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. We will reopen on Tuesday, November 13, with our regular times.
  • Wee Reads Storytime: Children ages birth-2 years and their families are invited to our Wee Reads Storytimes! Wee Reads is designed to help each child reach their full potential through stories and activities that encourage early literacy skills, as well as engaging with their peers. Tuesday, November 13, 10-10:20 a.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Family Storytime: Children ages birth-6 years and their families are invited to our weekly Family Storytimes! These storytimes are designed to help each child reach their full potential through stories and activities that encourage early literacy skills, as well as engaging with their peers. Tuesday, November 13, 6:30-7 p.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Wee Reads Storytime: Children ages birth-2 years and their families are invited to our Wee Reads Storytimes! Wee Reads is designed to help each child reach their full potential through stories and activities that encourage early literacy skills, as well as engaging with their peers. Wednesday, November 14, 10-10:20 a.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Preschool Music and Movement: In partnership with Ratio Dance, children will learn about different dances. We will use movement to build our muscles, learn and build rhythms, and learn to engage with peers. Wednesday, November 14, 11-11:30 a.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • LEGO Club: Come to LEGO Club! Work alone in our individual challenges, or with others during our collaborative sessions. Stoke your creativity and discover new ideas. We provide the LEGOs. Wednesday, November 14, 4-5 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Preschool Storytime: Children ages 2-6 years and their families are invited to our Preschool Storytimes! These storytimes are designed to help each child reach their full potential through stories and activities that encourage early literacy skills, as well as engaging with their peers. Thursday, November 15, 9:15-9:45 a.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Kids in the Kitchen: Kids and teens can learn their way around food prep, food from other cultures, and what goes into good eating! We are happy to work with our friends with dietary concerns or restrictions, so let us know if there is a recipe we can change to help create a food you can enjoy! Thursday, November 15, 4-5 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters and crocheters welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Help is available from this group. Thursday, November 15, 6-7:45 p.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Preschool Storytime: Children ages 2-6 years and their families are invited to our Preschool Storytimes! These storytimes are designed to help each child reach their full potential through stories and activities that encourage early literacy skills, as well as engaging with their peers. Friday, November 16, 10-10:30 a.m., Auburn Plaza Location.
  • Teen Magic: The Gathering Club: Magic: The Gathering (MTG) Club is held every Friday at the Teen Library for its teenage patrons. This is a time to talk about the game, its strategy, things happening in the MTG world, and just to play some games. Formats include a mix of Standard/Modern, Commander, and Pauper. If you’re just starting, don’t worry – we have extra card decks for you to play with. New members, beginners and experts alike, are always welcome! Friday, November 16, 5-7 p.m. Teen Library.
  • Sheffer Murder Mystery: In the 1920’s a prominent Auburn family, known as the Sheffers, were murdered. You may have heard of the family or maybe this is your first time. We invite you to bring your investigative skills to determine what happened and WHO did it by looking through the clues and evidence. Saturday, November 17, 1-2 p.m., Willennar Genealogy Center.
