How Can You Help Eckhart Public Library?

We are touched and thankful for the outpouring of support from the community and beyond after the fire on Sunday morning – including a lemonade stand set up to raise money for the library. (Read more about the fire here and on our Facebook page.)

Donations are currently the best way to help the library recover. The library is insured, but we already know there are going to be expenses that are not going to be covered by any insurance proceeds. A fund has been established at the Community Foundation of DeKalb County. Checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation, P.O. Box 111, Auburn, Indiana 46706, or dropped off at the Community Foundation, 700 S. Main St., or people can give online. Donations can be given online by clicking here.

The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library will also have its July Book Sale. The book sale will help the library in more than one way. Funds raised by the Friends of the Library will help the library recover, and the books that are sold will free up space for the library’s recovery efforts. The Friends sale schedule is:

  • Wednesday, July 12, 4-6 p.m. – Members only preview! Be the first to get your hands on great books. Memberships for Friends of EPL will be available at the door.
  • Thursday, July 13, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Friday, July 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 15, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
