Eckhart Public Library is proud to partner with Tri-Kappa for their annual Pink Out event on Thursday, May 18.

The library will hold its second annual Pink Lemonade Social and Pink Parade. The library will serve pink lemonade and cookies at 6 p.m. in the Library Park, and then have a parade from the library to the James Cultural Plaza for the Tribute Ceremony at 7 p.m., where Dr. Trina Chapman-Smith and Nina Bennett will speak. People of all ages are invited to wear their best pink outfits for the event.

In addition, the library will have a table at the Health and Wellness Fair at the James Cultural Plaza from 4-7 p.m.

Pink Out focuses on education and detection of breast cancer.

The library will also participate in Discovering Historic Auburn on Sunday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Auburn. Library staff will be handing out Eckhart Summer Read booklets and will present a display about Martha Falka, Auburn’s Popcorn Lady.

Here’s what is happening around the library campus during the week of May 15:

  • Friends of the Eckhart Public Library Art Show: See art by local artists on display at the 50th Annual Art Show, 7th Annual Teen Art Show, and 5th Annual Children’s Art Show. Art is on display during regular building hours. Monday, May 15-Friday, May 19.
  • Neon Flix: This group for people in grades 6-12 writes, directs and acts in original films, short stories and YouTube videos. New members are always welcome. Monday, May 15, 5-7 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Pokemon Club: Pokemon enthusiasts in grades 6-12 are invited to bring their cards to the teen library every Tuesday and battle. Participants will go home with all their cards, as trading is not encouraged. Pokemon club is free and no sign up is required. Tuesday, May 16, 4-5 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Turn a Page with Anni: This book club will discuss “True Blue” by David Baldacci. Pick up a copy of the novel at the Information Desk. Wednesday, May 17, noon to 1 p.m., Close Community Room.
  • Wild Wednesday Adventure Club – Pokemon Battle Zone: Do you love Pokemon? Enthusiasts in first through fifth grades can bring cards and battle other enthusiasts! Participants go home with all their cards. Trading is not encouraged. Wednesday, May 17, 4-4:45 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Friends of the Eckhart Public Library Book Sale: Friends members are invited to this special preview of the Friends Book Sale. Memberships will be available at the door. Proceeds from the sale support library programs, collections, and initiatives. Wednesday, May 17, 4-6 p.m., Willennar Administrative Annex.
  • Creative Writing Group: All writers 18 and older, no matter what genre, are encouraged to attend. Group members share their writing and participate in writing exercises. Wednesday, May 17, 6:30-8 p.m., JHG Room.
  • Friends of the Eckhart Public Library Book Sale: The public is invited to shop for their next great read! Proceeds from the sale support library programs, collections, and initiatives. Thursday, May 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Willennar Administrative Annex.
  • Old Auburn Photos with Cathy Vick: A slide presentation of early Auburn photos showcasing downtown Auburn. This will be held at Smith Farms Manor of Auburn. It is open to the public. Thursday, May 18, 3-4 p.m., Smith Farms Manor.
  • Super Happy Fun Time – Creativity and Cookies: We will create some ferocious art creatures. Super Happy Fun Time is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Thursday, May 18, 4-4:45 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Pink Parade with Tri-Kappa: Join us for a Pink Lemonade Social and Pink Parade as part of Tri-Kappa Pink Out! We will have pink lemonade and cookies at 6 p.m. in the Library Park, and then have a parade from the library to the James Cultural Plaza for the Tribute Ceremony at 7 p.m., where Dr. Trina Chapman-Smith and Nina Bennett will speak. Wear your best pink outfit and join us! Tri-Kappa Pink Out focuses on education and detection of breast cancer. Thursday, May 18, 6-7 p.m., Library Park and James Cultural Plaza.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Help is available from this group. Thursday, May 18, 6-7:45 p.m., Main Library.
  • Friends of the Eckhart Public Library Book Sale: The public is invited to shop for their next great read! Proceeds from the sale support library programs, collections, and initiatives. Friday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Willennar Administrative Annex.
  • Friday Night Magic – The Gathering: Come play Magic: The Gathering! Anyone in grades 6-12 is welcome, and no registration is required. Friday, May 19, 5-6 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Friends of the Eckhart Public Library Book Sale: The public is invited to shop for their next great read! Most items will be $2 per grocery-style bag. Proceeds from the sale support library programs, collections, and initiatives. Saturday, May 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Willennar Administrative Annex.
  • Discovering Historic Auburn: Come visit the Eckhart Public Library at Discovering Historic Auburn! We’ll be handing out Eckhart Summer Read booklets, and we’ll have a display about Martha Falka, Auburn’s Popcorn Lady! Sunday, May 21, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., downtown Auburn.
