The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library are holding an online auction to benefit The Heart of Our Park!

In January of this year, Friends of Eckhart Public Library Board Member, Tom Woodfin, put his enthusiasm to work and sent personal letters to 150 authors, public figures, motivational speakers, and politicians asking for signed copies of their works that would be sold in a benefit auction to raise the necessary funds to refurbish the Eckhart Public Library fountain.

To date, 14 authors responded with signed copies of recent books, and in many cases a letter of support and gratitude for allowing them to be a part of this effort at such a personal level.

Tom’s hard work is now paying off! The books and letters he has gathered will go up for bid through Littlejohn Auctions this Friday, June 17th. The on line only auction will conclude Monday July 11th at 8:30pm. Bidders have a chance to be a part of a very personal benefit auction event without buying a ticket or leaving the comfort of their home.

Bidders can easily attend and bid at the auction at LittlejohnAuctions.com. All books will be on display in the front window of Littlejohn Auctions at 117 E. 9th. Street for the duration of the auction event.

Some authors responding with signed works in this online benefit auction include: Lou Holtz, Sarah Palin, Clive Cussler (a well-known Auburn enthusiast whose works often include an Auburn, Duesenberg, or other vintage vehicle), Bob Dole, and Donald Rumsfield.

Anyone who would like to be a part of this very grassroots effort to help refurbish the Eckhart Public Library Fountain, but who are not interested in purchasing any of the signed books will find ways to donate easily accessible within the bidding platform. Donors may also contact Janelle Graber at the Eckhart Public Library. 260.925.2414.

Any bidding questions should be referred to Jama Smith or Greg Littlejohn at Littlejohn Auctions, 260.925.2796.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
