Eckhart Public Library’s Summer Read activities have two focuses: reading and moving. While some may find it hard to combine the two, the librarians at EPL came up with a fun way for families to do just that.
This summer, Eckhart Park (located at the south end of Cedar Street) will host EPL’s first Book Walk! Laminated pages from Shh! We Have a Plan by author/illustrator Chris Haughton are displayed along the path. Each sign encourages readers to act out the story as they walk to the next page in the story.
EPL is very excited to offer their first book walk at Eckhart Park! Eckhart Park was a gift from Charles Eckhart, owner of the Eckhart Buggy Company and magnate in the local automobile industry, in 1915. He is the same benefactor that offered to build Auburn a library, Eckhart Public Library.
EPL librarian Jan Hewitt will be at Eckhart Park on Saturday, June 4th, from 10:00am – 4:00pm during the Auburn Parks Department’s Cedar Creek Canoe Day to kick off the Book Walk and share information about other library activities available throughout the summer.
