This Week at Eckhart Public Library – November 30: December 5

Lisa Looking at WGC Display

Don’t miss the Women Workers of the Auburn Automobile Company display at the Willennar Genealogy Center: A Service of Eckhart Public Library. You can see the display during the genealogy center’s hours through December 29!

This week kicks off Food For Fines at Eckhart Public Library. People with overdue fines can bring nonperishable food items to the circulation desk at Eckhart Public Library during the month of December and have their overdue fines waived. Fees for lost or damaged items, collection agencies, or postage cannot be waived. Collected food will go to local food pantries.

Here’s what else is happening at Eckhart Public Library this week:

  • Come Write In: Eckhart Public Library invites all authors to come write in! Every Monday in November, the library will host a supportive space for writers participating or thinking about participating in National Novel Writing Month (and any other writer).  Writers and aspiring writers can find a quiet space (with an electrical outlet) to work; coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks; and inspiration and positivity from fellow writers.  Expect informal talking points and writing games to help creativity flow around 6 p.m.  Monday, November 30, 5:30-7:45 p.m., Close Community Room.
  • ATLAS (At the Library After School) – Charlie’s Chapters: We will begin reading a new book. Then we will create some holiday decorations to take home and some for our new grade school corner. ATLAS is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Thursday, December 3, 3-3:45 p.m., Children’s Department.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Help is available from this group. Thursday, December 3, 6-7:45 p.m., Main Library.
  • Christmas Jubilee: Join us for a Christmas Jubilee! Sharon Zonker will present an all ages program in the Close Community Room about the Underground Railroad. She will showcase some of the quilts that she made and some that she has collected over the years. Register by calling the Information Desk at 925-2414 ext. 120 or emailing reference@epl.lib.in.us. Saturday, December 5, 2-3 p.m., Close Community Room.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
