Here’s what else is happening this week:

  • ATLAS (At the Library After School) Charlie’s Chapters – Welcome To ATLAS: Welcome to ATLAS! We’ll talk about what books we want to read for book club and come up with a list. To help us in the thinking process there will be snacks and games. ATLAS is a weekly after-school program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 260-925-2414 ext. 320 or childrens@epl.lib.in.us. Thursday, September 3, 3-3:45 p.m., Children’s Department.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Help is available from this group. Thursday, September 3, 6-7:45 p.m., Main Library.
  • John Martin Smith Open House: Come see some of the items being digitized by the Eckhart Public Library from the John Martin Smith Collection. Smith, who helped found the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, was a prolific collector. His collection includes items of local, state and national importance, including many items relating to Auburn’s automotive history. The Smith family has generously loaned the collection to the library to be scanned and digitally shared. Stop in and see some of the items that are being digitized as part of this project, and talk to library staff members who are working on this project. There will be a short program at noon. Friday, September 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Willennar Genealogy Center.
  • Register for Storytime Enrichment Classes: Registration is open for Storytime Enrichment Classes! Classes are for children from birth through 6 years old and begin in September. Eckhart Public Library is proud to offer Storytime Enrichment Classes for the children and families in our community at no cost to them. All families are welcome, and no library card is needed to attend these classes. The library offers weekly classes at several times during the week. Visitors are always welcome. Register by calling the Children’s Department at 925-2414 ext. 320.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
