Artists sought for Friends Annual Art Show

The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library of Auburn are planning the 48th Annual Art Show for Thursday May 7, through Friday, May 15.

Eligible artists must maintain a residence or employment within DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, or Steuben counties.

Each entry must be an original work of the artist, produced in the last year. Classifications include oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, drawings, ceramics, sculpture, fibers, jewelry, black-and-white photography, color photography, stained glass and carving.

The exhibits will be open to the public and prizes will be awarded.

The art show will be held at Eckhart Public Library, 603 S. Jackson St., Auburn. More information and entry forms are available at the library and on the library’s website.

The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library also are planning the Fifth Annual Teen Art Show of DeKalb. It also will be held Thursday May 7, through Friday, May 15. Teen artists must maintain a residence within DeKalb County and be enrolled in either middle or high school for the 2015-16 school year.

The annual art show is supported through contributions from the community. If businesses or individuals are interested, donations may be sent to Friends of the Public Library Inc. at P.O. Box 838, Auburn, IN 46706. Envelopes should be sent to attention of the treasurer.

My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types.
