This Week at Eckhart Public Library: March 30-April 4

Eckhart Curb Park

We had a wonderful week of Spring Break activities last week, even though Mother Nature didn’t want to cooperate!

Please note that the Eckhart Public Library campus will be closed one day this week, on Friday, April 3, for our own Spring Break. We will reopen with regular hours on Saturday, April 4.

Also, you can register now for Family History Boot Camp Part One! This free, four-session class is for beginning researchers interested in working on family history and genealogy. Previous classes have filled up quickly; register by calling 925-2414 ext. 420 or emailing

Here’s what else is happening at Eckhart Public Library this week:

  • March Madness: It’s the final week to vote for your picks in our March Madness book tournament! Cast your vote through April 4 at the Main Library, and your ballot will go into a drawing for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card.
  • ATLAS – Charlie’s Chapters: Children in kindergarten through second grade will read “Eye to Eye: How Animals See the World” and explore some optical illusions. Children in grades 3-5 will begin reading “The Graveyard Book v. 1” by Neil Gaiman and make tombstones out of a variety of materials. Thursday, April 2, 3-3:45 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters are welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Crocheters are also welcome to attend. Help is available from this group. Thursday, April 2, 6-7:45 p.m., Main Library.
  • Pick up book club books: Turn a Page with Anni will discuss “Where the Heart Is” by Billie Letts on Wednesday, April 15, at 1 p.m. in the JHG Room. Better Off Read will discuss “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor on Thursday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Jeremiah’s Brewed Awakenings. Pick up books at the Information Desk at the Main Library.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
