This Week at Eckhart Public Library: January 19-24

We’re in the throes of winter, but that doesn’t mean that things slow down at Eckhart Public Library! Participate in our Eckhart Winter Read and Eckhart Winter Research. You can earn prizes for reading items checked out from our library, or for researching at the Willennar Genealogy Center! Read all about it by clicking here.

Also, don’t forget that we are closed Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Eckhart Public Library campus will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, January 20.

Here is what else is happening at Eckhart Public Library this week:

  • Turn a Page With Anni: The book club will discuss “Whistling Past the Graveyard” by Susan Crandall. Wednesday, January 21, from noon to 1 p.m., JHG Room.
  • ATLAS – Winter Games: Bring your game face and a friend and see if you can be the winner of the Eckhart Public Library 2015 Winter Games. For children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Thursday, January 22, 3-3:45 p.m., Children’s Department.
  • Taste & Talk – Soups: Winter is the perfect time to enjoy a cup of soup and good company. Bring your favorite soup to share and enjoy sampling other soups. Registration is free by calling 260-925-2414 ext. 120 or emailing; just bring your recipe to share. Coffee and water will be provided, and there are outlets available for any crock pots that need plugged in. Thursday, January 22, 6-7:30 p.m., Close Community Room. Read more by clicking here.
  • Literary “Doctor Who”: Join us for the second episode in our three-part series of “Doctor Who” episodes featuring authors. We will be watching “The Shakespeare Code,” which features William Shakespeare, then briefly discuss the episode and how it relates to the author being portrayed. Read a piece or two by Shakespeare beforehand if you can; if not, just come and enjoy the episode! Saturday, January 24, 2-3:30 p.m., Close Community Room. Read more by clicking here.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
