New Display: “Unbroken” and other World War II stories

Unbroken Display

The movie “Unbroken” is being released in theaters on Christmas Day.

Eckhart Public Library has several copies of the book to check out if the movie inspires you to read the book. We’ve also compiled some great World War II stories, including Lost in Shangri-La, Ghost Soldiers, and Five Came Back.

Unbroken is the story of Louis Zamperini, a U.S. Olympian who, during World War II, became an airman, “embarking on a journey that led to his doomed flight, a tiny raft, and a drift into the unknown.”

Zamperini competed in the 1936 Olympics with Auburn native Don Lash, and Lash’s photograph appears in the book “Unbroken.” You can read a short piece about Lash from the KPC Media Group archives here.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
