Sue (Graber) Detweiler will return to Auburn to showcase her debut book, “9 Traits of a Life-Giving Mom: Replacing My Worst with God’s Best.”
Detweiler will speak and sign books on Tuesday, December 2, at 6 p.m. in the Close Community Room.
According to Detweiler, the book is not a parenting how-to book, but, rather, “a book intended to reach into the hearts of moms to help them overcome unresolved issues, find peace with their imperfections, learn from their mistakes.”
“The book is not about how to raise the perfect child,” says Detweiler, who is the mother of six. “It’s more of a conversation with moms of all ages, to help them when they are feeling overwhelmed,” she says, adding that she hopes the book reaches out to those moms going through a difficult time, “particularly for those who know they should embrace being a mother, but for whom it doesn’t come naturally.”
Detweiler’s writing inspiration came from her father Allen Graber, long time resident of Auburn. “During the last days of my father’s life, he encouraged me to use my writing gifts to help others,” she said.
