This Week at Eckhart Public Library: November 24-29

Piece of Pumpkin Pie

This week is Thanksgiving, and all of us at Eckhart Public Library are so thankful for our supportive patrons! Have a great holiday!

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the library campus will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, and we’ll be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The library campus will reopen on Monday, December 1, with regular hours.

Never fear – cardholders can download books and audiobooks 24/7 through OverDrive. Click here to get started. You will need your library card and a PIN. If you don’t have a PIN, or can’t remember what it is, visit the Information Desk at the Main Library.

This week, through Wednesday, you can register for the A-Door Your Library decorating contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Eckhart Public Library. The Friends will use the revenues from the contest to help support support events, services, and collections at Eckhart Public Library. Read more about the contest here.

Here’s what else is happening around the campus this week:

  • National Novel Writing Month Final Stretch: You’re almost there! Get inspired to reach your 50,000-word goal by the end of November. Get support from other novelists and share your successes and failures. Monday, November 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Close Community Room.
  • Creative Writing Group: The Creative Writing Group at Eckhart Public Library gathers twice a month to participate in writing exercises, share writing, and support fellow writers. This group is for adults age 18 and older. Tuesday, November 25, 6:30-8 p.m., JHG Room.
  • Twig Crafts: Make fun crafts using twigs at the Teen Library. Your finished products can be decorations or gifts! Wednesday, November 26, 2-4 p.m., Teen Library.
  • A Colonial Christmas Celebration: Girls in third grade and older can sign up now for an afternoon of food, crafts, and entertainment. Space is limited! Call the children’s department at 925-2414 ext. 320 to register. Saturday, December 6, 2-4 p.m.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
