Eckhart Public Library is urging learners, thinkers, dreamers, and doers of all ages to do something that will help them succeed and enrich their lives – getting a library card!
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and we’re offering extra incentives for new cardholders during the month.
Everyone who signs up for a library card in September will receive a small gift. They will also be able to enter a drawing for an Eckhart Public Library prize pack. There will be two prize packs given away – one geared toward children and one geared toward adults.
More importantly, though, new cardholders of all ages will have the opportunity for education, enrichment and entertainment. Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children and teens, and help make adults into lifelong learners.
Eckhart Public Library has a diverse collection, and offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, CDs, audiobooks, and DVDs for people of all ages. Eckhart Public Library also offers 24-hour-a-day downloads of e-book and e-audiobooks. Eckhart Public Library also offers several unique items for cardholders, including passes to local museums, puppets, e-readers, and tablet computers. The library campus also has computers with internet access and Wi-Fi.
Residents and property owners in Eckhart Public Library’s taxing district, which is the City of Auburn and Union Township, can receive an Eckhart Public Library card for no additional charge.
Those outside of Eckhart Public Library’s taxing district may purchase an annual subscription card for $73.04. The cost is based on how much funding the residents of the city of Auburn and Union Township pay per person to support the library through their property taxes.
All students who live in Indiana and are eligible to attend DeKalb County Central United School District schools may purchase a student library card for $10.
