Library partnering with Summer Food Program

summer lunch

Eckhart Public Library very pleased to be partnering with DeKalb Central schools to be a site for the Summer Food Service Program.

The Summer Food Service Program, a USDA program, was established to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

On Thursdays, DeKalb Central sends tasty, nutritious lunches to the Library Park, and children ages 1-18 can get them for free! There are no income requirements for the program. The program lines up well with the programs happening in the Children’s Department on Thursdays, too – come to the Family Program at 10:15 a.m. and stay for lunch afterward! Adults can have lunch too – the meal costs $3.75 for people over 18.

The meal is served at 11 a.m. in the library park.

Breakfasts and lunches are served every day, Monday through Friday, in June and July in the DeKalb Central school district area. Find out more sites by clicking here.

About Jenny

I am the Associate Director of Eckhart Public Library. My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types. Currently, I'm working my way around the romance section, with some historical fiction and graphic novels thrown in for variety! But you never know what I'm going to pick up next.
