For every five hours spent reading items from Eckhart Public Library – including fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, magazines, e-books and audiobooks – teens will receive a prize. Prizes are: level one, bookmark and popsicle; level two, library coupon book; level three, prize book and magnetic bookmarks; level four, passes to Science Central, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, or NGC; and level five, earbuds and an entry in the grand prize drawing.

Teens will also be able to participate in a variety of programs and events during Summer Reading Club. On Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Teen Library will sponsor the fourth annual Muggle Quidditch Tournament at Eckhart Park. People 11 years old and older are elibigle to play; those under 18 must have a signed permission form. An optional callout meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, at the Teen Library.

On Wednesday, July 9, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Teen Library, author Laurie Gray will be signing books and discussing her work. Her 2013 book, “Maybe I Will,” is a 2014 nominee for the American Library Association’s Teens’ Top Ten.

About Katy

Some of the books I've recently come to love include Signal To Noise by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, The Just City by Jo Walton, Goodbye Stranger by Rebecca Stead, and Bug In A Vacuum by Melanie Watt. I'm a firm believer in the power of the Oxford comma.
