This Week at Eckhart Public Library: May 5-10

It’s finally May, and it’s starting to feel more springy every day at Eckhart Public Library!

Now that it’s getting warmer and easier for everyone to get out, why not come out to Eckhart Public Library this week? We have a lot of great things going on this week!

  • Annual Art Show: Art by adults, teens, and children will be on display beginning Thursday, May 8, on the Eckhart Public Library campus. Visit the main library and teen buildings to see the local talent on display. Items will be on display through May 16. Artists and guests are invited to a reception on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30-7:45 p.m. at the main library. Read more about the art show by clicking here.
  • Star Wars Week: The Force will be strong at the teen library all week. Teens can enjoy Star Wars movies, crafts and food all week long. Monday, May 5 to Thursday, May 9, 4:30-8:30 p.m., at The Third Place: A Teen Library. Read more about Star Wars Week by clicking here.
  • Teen Poetry Reading: Teens can bring original poetry to share. Shy poets can contribute by using unconventional writing tools. Monday, May 5, 6-7:30 p.m., Jeremiah’s Brewed Awakenings, 111 W. Ninth St., Auburn.
  • Lunch Bunch – Tombstone: The group will explore the meaning of cemetery symbols, different types of tombstones, and other graveyard mysteries. Tuesday, May 6, noon to 1:30 p.m., at The Willennar Genealogy Center.
  • Clay’s Coral Reef presentation: Join Clay to learn about interesting creatures that live in the aquarium. Children also will be able to vote on the official name of the female clown fish. Wednesday, May 7, 7-7:30 p.m. in the Children’s Department.
  • ATLAS Charlie’s Chapters: Students in kindergarten through second grade will meet in the Secret Garden Craft Room and students in third through fifth grades will meet in the Secret Garden Storytime Room for this book club. Thursday, May 8, 3-3:45 p.m., in the Children’s Department.
  • Better Off Read book club: Club members will discuss “Where Am I Wearing?” by Kelsey Timmerman. Copies of the book are available at Eckhart Public Library and Jeremiah’s Brewed Awakenings. Thursday, May 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Jeremiah’s Brewed Awakenings, 111 W. Ninth St., Auburn.

My office is in the Administrative Annex, but I can often be found roaming the Eckhart Public Library Campus, performing acts of librarianship in every department! I love to read and learn about history. I'm also a huge fan of movies, TV and pop culture in general, and I love to read books of all types.
